Exploring robotics with Abrar and Pushpita’s ‘Roboticser Masterplan’
Building onto the recent trends in robotics, especially among the Bangladeshi students, Abrar Shahriar Swopnil and Subha Nawar Pushpita's debut book, Roboticser Masterplan, was released at the Ekyshey Boi Mela 2020, recently. Most of the available books and articles on Robotics is mainly in English, which can be a barrier in basic robotics learning. The urge to creating more such books in Bangla is what inspired the brother-sister duo to write this book.
The book aims to strengthen the fundamental ideas of robotics, electronics and programming, by solving projects practically in the book after reading each chapter.
The basic understanding of robotics comes from three main subjects— programming, electronics and mechanics. "There are many books in our country based on programming and only a few on robotics,' asserts Abrar who graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Mechanical Engineering recently and is currently working there as a research assistant. "That is why we decided to go ahead with this book."
Abrar developed a passion for mechatronics back in his first year of undergrad studies. Inspired by her brother, Pushpita, an undergrad student at MIT, also joined her brother in this initiative. "I want to see a country where people will grow up with love for STEM and humanity," expresses Pushpita, who also works as an undergraduate researcher at MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and MIT Media Lab. I think humanity and kindness are two big qualities we badly need now and reading has a big role to play in this aspect."
Pushpita and Abrar is planning a second part to Roboticser Masterplan. "We designed the first part to suit beginners," shares Abrar. "The second instalment will be related with image processing and pneumatics, advancing from the first one."
The book, published by Adarsha Publications, is now available in stalls 421 to 424 at the Ekushey Boi Mela, for BDT 240 (under discount).
