Keeping up with Kona
Singing superstar Dilshad Nahar Kona is a widely recognised voice in Bangladesh, thanks to her beautiful playback songs, television commercial voiceovers and jingles, among other works. The artiste remains equally busy throughout the year working in the TVC industry as well as performing on stage. Throughout her career in the media, which commenced at a very tender age, she has performed in over a thousand live shows and worked as a television host and master of ceremonies as well.
The artiste recently voiced two duets with talented singer Imran for the upcoming films Bishwa Shundori and Shaan. “It was quite a lovely experience to record the romantic song Tui Ki Amar Hobi Rey for the upcoming movie Bishwa Shundori. Imran is composing the music for this film,” says Kona, who is also busy with recording solos and covers for her YouTube channel.
Kona has a knack for rendering Nazrul Sangeet, especially the raga-based melodies. Though she does not have any solo Nazrul Sangeet album, she has two music videos of Nazrul songs -- Priyo Jai Jai Bolo Na and Porodeshi Megh. “I am fascinated with the genre. When I am in an adda with my friends, I prefer to perform either golden oldies or Nazrul Sangeet,” added Kona. “I wish to work on another Nazrul composition Mone Pore Aaj Shey Kon Jonome for my next music video.”
The professional singer has four solo albums to her credit. However, with technological advancements and evolving trends reshaping tendencies of listening to music, artistes are focusing more on digital platforms to reach a larger audience. “The audience’s taste varies. It is quite impossible to satisfy everybody with your artistic effort. At the end of the day, only the good works will live up to expectations whereas substandard ones will not. I hope to continue my practice and persevere in this industry till the end of my days. I am happy with the way my fans love me, and I hope they will remain with Bangla songs for the times to come,” concluded Kona.
