Mymensingh dance festival concludes
A two-day dance festival, held at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium, concluded recently. The programme, a first of its kind in the district, was jointly organised by Bahurupi Sangskritik Academy and Nrityagram, with the slogan, Nrityajuge Monon Bikash, Nritye Nitta Abinash.
The programme was inaugurated with a discussion, chaired by Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu, secretary of Bahurupi Natya Sangstha. District Cultural Officer Arzu Parvez, Ustad A K M Shahabuddin Khan, Ustad Swapon Sarker, S M Ali Azhar, advocate Imdadul Haque Selim and secretary of Mymensingh district Awami League advocate Moazzem Hossain Babul were present in the inaugural ceremony, among others.
Chitrangada, a dance drama adapted from Rabindranath Tagore's drama of the same name, were also presented by Bahurupi Sangskritik Academy under the direction of Manash Talukder.
Alongside these sessions, the event, anchored by Sarwar Jahan, featured various Bharatanatyam, Kathak and folk dance routines by the local cultural organisation of Mymensingh. Artistes from Dhaka, including Hasan Istiaq Imran, Juyeria Mouri, Nayeem Khan and Ariful Islam Arnob, also performed at the event, among others.
