Remembering: AMJAD HOSSAIN
Amjad Hossain's demise left an irrevocable void in Bangladesh's film industry. His films, many of which were classics, paved the way for many artistes to attain greater fame and go on to win national awards. On his departure, stars who had the fortune of working with him, spoke to The Daily Star about the beloved artiste.
BABITA:
I first worked with Amjad Hossain in the film Noyonmoni. I never expected the film to receive so much love from people. It all happened because of his hard work. Amjad Hossain was a complete workaholic. I feel extremely lucky to have worked with him in my career. I hope he is in peace.
FAROOQUE:
A personality like Amjad Hossain comes to the world once in a century. He wrote plays, books and songs, and also produced and directed many memorable films. His departure is a great loss for the industry. Jol was my first ever movie with him.
SUCHANDA:
I have known him since he was an assistant director to Zahir Raihan. More than a co-worker, he was like a family to me. Everyone knows how sincere he was towards his work. The industry lost an extremely talented artiste.
FERDOUS:
Amjad Hossain is one of the people whom I owe my success to. I have worked in three films with him, one of which is Golapi Jokhon Bilete. We shot the film in London, where we made many memories. Kal Shokal was the last film that we worked together in. I feel like I have lost someone very close to me.
ROZINA:
I have plenty of memories with him, which I will cherish for the rest of my life. Under his direction, I received a national award for the film Koshai. It was a popular film in the 80's. I have not met many people in my life who were as talented as Amjad Hossain. I am deeply disheartened by the news.
ILIAS KANCHAN:
I had the opportunity to work Amjad Hossain in films like Hiramoti, Sundori and Adorer Sontan. People used to love those films. He has given a lot to the people. He was always thinking about work, such a passionate soul he was.
