'Shilper Shohor - City of Art' held in Rajshahi
To highlight the cultural vibrancy of different districts of our country, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has extended the Shilper Shohor Dhaka - City of Art Dhaka project to a month-long cultural event titled Shilper Shohor - City of Art in districts across Bangladesh. The Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Liaquat Ali Lucky, conceived the project. Along with Dhaka, the event is set to run in Sylhet, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal. 10 locations in each district will host the cultural programme for the local audience.
The six-day long schedule in Rajshahi began on October 15 in Lalon Mancha. The other locations were Kashiadanga College, Court Station Mor, Police Line T-Bad, Shahid A H M Kamruzzaman Chattar, Court Shahid Minar, Padma Garden, Shaheb Bazaar Alupotti, Talaimari Mor and Rajshahi University.
With the festivities of Durga Puja underway, the spectators were pleasantly surprised with such an initiative. The participants at Shahid A H M Kamruzzaman Chattar performed on a truck by the side of the road. Everyone from street venders to casual observers were in the audience.
Artists associated with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the designated districts performed patriotic folk songs while local songs were performed in the evenings. The last event in Rajshahi took place on October 21 at Rajshahi University.
