Solo musical soiree held at KIB auditorium
To celebrate eminent Rabindra Sangeet exponent Adity Mohsin’s illustrious twenty-year journey in music, a solo musical soiree, titiled Arun Alor Anjali, was held at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium on December 6. Express Events arranged the programme, in association with Energypac and Purbani.
The Prime Minister’s Political Adviser, H T Imam, attended the event as chief guest. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Riva Ganguly Das was present as special guest. Internationally renowned theatre personality Ramendu Majumdar, who is also the president of the celebration committee, delivered the welcome address.
The chief guest presented a crest to the Adity Mohsin, while the special guest adorned her with uttario. Ramendu Majumdar received the devoted singer with a bouquet, while eminent artist Hashem Khan presented Adity an exclusive painting that he created only for her.
Among the honourable members of the organising committee, Sadya Afreen Mallick, Abdul Hai Sarker and Engineer Rabiul Alam spoke at the event.
At the event, Adity Mohsin performed several Tagore songs, along with a few melodious compositions by Atulprasad Sen and Rajanikanta Sen.
Paying a musical tribute to the martyrs of Liberation War, Adity started her performance with the song O Amar Desher Mati. She produced beautiful renditions of Tagore’s musical masterpieces, including Anadadhara, set on raga Malkauns; a Dhrupadang song Kar Milono Chao Birohi, a Kheyal-ang composition Kotha Hotey Bajey Premo Bedona Rey and kirttan-inspired songs, Hridiyer Ekul Okul and Amar Mon Manena, among many others.
With the blessing of a mellifluous voice, coupled with the untainted taleem (training) from her musical Gurus, Adity Mohsin has created a distinctive rendition style, that many follow to this day. Tagore aficionados beyond borders have fondly placed Adity in their hearts for her consistently excellent performances for two decades.
Her signature flair was found in her renditions of Aji Bijon Ghar-e, Kon Sudur Hotey, Tomaay Gaan Shonabo and Amar Moner Koner Bairey.
The singer absolutely mesmerised the packed audience with her soulful rendition of Sharthoko Jonomo Amar and her presentation of the Atulprasad number, Muroli Kandey Radhe Radhe Bole. The artiste wrapped up the soiree with the Tagore song, Tobu Mone Rekho.
Syed Apon Ahsan, who was the coordinator of the celebration committee, addressed the event, sharing some behind-the-scene stories whilst arranging the grand event. He also made a documentary, highlighting the 20-year musical journey of the singer. Many eminent personalities, including National Professor Anisuzzaman, Indian actor Soumitra Chatterjee, Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair and Indian singers Haimanti Sukla and Srikanta Acharya, spoke highly of Adity Mohsin in the visual. Actor-director Tropa Majumdar hosted the event.
