Port city enjoys “Nawkar Shaytan Malik Hoyran”
Fame, one of the leading theatre troupes in the city, staged the play "Nawkar Shaytan Malik Hoyran", an adaptation from the famous comedy "Servant of Two Masters" by renowned Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni, at Theatre Institute Chittagong (TIC), enthralling the theatre enthusiasts of the port city on Friday.
In guise of her brother, Rasponi with her servant Truffaldino comes to Venice in search of her beloved. But without informing Rasponi, the servant Truffaldino takes up a job under another master, giving rise to bizarre incidents.
The two-hour play also depicted confrontation between old and new in a humourous take.
Teacher at Chittagong university dramatics department, Ashim Das, who is also the Chief of Fame, translated and directed the play. He also designed music, lights and set for it.
The audience was thoroughly entertained in the two shows, one held on 4pm and another on 7pm.
Jishu Das, Rumel Barua, Mubidur Sujat, Pali Chowdhury Boby, Kamal Barua, Nishigondha Dasgupta, Khadijatul Risika, Shahidul Sabit and Bappi Shikder enacted the important roles in the play.
