Shilpaguru Abanindranath Tagore remembered
Marking the 64th death anniversary of Shilpaguru Abanindranath Tagore, the forerunner of modern Indian painting style, the Department of Fine Art of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) arranged a group art exhibition titled “Chhobishala Bottola 2015” at JKKNIU campus yesterday, says a press release.
Professor Mohit-ul-Alam, Vice Chancellor of JKKNIU, inaugurated the exhibition. Fine Art Department head Tapan Kumar Sarkar; Assistant Professor of the same department Safin Omar; director (Planning and Development) Md. Hafizur Rahman; examination controller Dr. Bimal Chandra Saha along with teachers and students of the university were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Thanking the organisers of the show, the Vice Chancellor said, “Many people are unfamiliar with the contribution of Shilpaguru Abanindranath Tagore to the world of art. This exhibition will not only provide information about the master artist but inspire the new generation of artists."
A total of 50 paintings are on display at the show. The participating artists are students from all the sessions of the Department of Fine Art of JKKNIU.
