The Lion King emerges as the greatest animated movie

The greatest animated movie of all time is...It is not Toy Story. No, it is not Frozen either, and while we are on the topic, it is not Little Mermaid as well.

In a recently conducted poll by a website, Disney's The Lion King emerged as the Greatest Animated Disney Movie of all time. All hail King Simba!

After five rounds and thousands upon thousands of votes, the fans chose Simba and friends over The Little Mermaid.

The winner polled 54% of votes, and won over Little Mermaid by less than 1,000 clicks.

The film also beat the likes of Toy Story and classic Beauty and the Beast to claim the title.

Rolling Stone's original review of the film when it came out in theaters back in 1994 read: "It's a hugely entertaining blend of music, fun and eye-popping thrills, though it doesn't lack for heart.

The father-son relationship is movingly rendered...Let's also lionize the visual miracles by 600 Disney artisans, who bring the African landscape to stunning life from a raindrop falling gently on a leaf to a spectacular stampede of wildebeests.

It's this kind of animation artistry that raises The Lion King above the level of superior kid stuff and into the realm of a royal treat."

Is it time we all sing Hakuna Matata. Why? Well, because it's a beautiful phrase and, as the poll proved, this is no passing craze.
