“Bairam Khan Ebong Otopor” staged in Mymensingh
"Bairam Khan Ebong Otopor", a play on social values, was staged Tuesday evening in Mymensingh.
Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy organised the evening at its auditorium as part of the countrywide staging of plays initiated by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The play is written and directed by Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu, secretary of Bahurupi Natya Sangstha.
The cast of the play were Moni Bhattacharya, Jannatul Ferdous Mou, Monir Hossain Tushar, Neaz Shahrier, Md Moniruzzaman, Asaduzzaman Sarker, Mezbah Uddin, Sabiha Parvin, Mukti Debnath and Amjad Shraban. The play was assisted by Ferdous Hira, Amol Basak, Saikat and Manash Talukder.
Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu said moral values are being degraded, impacting on history, tradition, culture and communal harmony.
Bairam Khan is the symbol of Liberation War and we need more Bairam Khans to keep alive the spirit of the freedom struggle, through which we emerged as an independent nation, Hilu said.
Deputy Director of Local Government Department, Md. Nurul Alam, Prof Afzal Rahman of Govt. Ananda Mohan College and district cultural officer Arzu Parves spoke on the occasion, among others.
To get a picture of the true history of the country, we need staging of more plays like "Bairam Khan Ebong Otopor", said the speakers.
