“Ami Tumi” staged at JKKNIU
Students of Theatre and Performance Studies Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University staged "Ami Tumi" at Natyakala Theatre Hall of the university this past week.
The play, based on the War of Liberation, has been scripted and directed by Mehdi Tanzir, a teacher of the department.
This was the first performance of the play, said sources.
The play is set against the struggle for independence from Pakistan and the eventual birth of Bangladesh through the concerted effort of millions of people, said the director.
The cast of the play were Sourav Ahmed, Naimur Rahman, Sadi Mohammad Shuvo, Kabita Sarker, Madhuri, Saifuzzaman and Rabeya Begum.
Earlier, a discussion was held. Ismat Ara Bhuiya Ela, head of Theatre and Performance Studies Department; assistant professor Al Jabir; journalists Khorshidul Alam Mujib and Mustafizir Rahman Noman were present, among others.
The speakers said that the play will help the younger generation gain valuable insights into the history of Liberation War.
