Mymensingh Shilpakala stages “Mahua”
Artistes of Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy staged dance-drama "Mahua", an evergreen pala of Mymensingh Geetika at a cultural evening at the academy auditorium last week.
The mesmerising cultural evening also included dance sequences and rendition of parody songs that enthralled the huge audience gathered at the venue. The pala, adopted by Sarwar Jahan was directed by Nazmul Haq Lenin. Reputed flautist Ustad AKM Shahabuddin Khan and classical singer Ustad Anwar Hossin have directed the music.
The cast of the pala were - Protima Bormon Tumpa, Abu Raihan, Sarwar Jahan and Nazmul Haq Lenin, among others.
The artistes of the academy also performed in several dance sequences led by Manosh Talukder.
Female Garo artistes of Mymensingh Mohila Degree College performed their indigenous dances, adding an extra touch to the evening.
Senior secretary of Ministry of Public Administration, Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan; Mymensingh divisional commissioner GM Saleh Uddin; deputy commissioner Md Khalilur Rahman and superintendent of Mymensingh Police Syed Nurul Islam were present at the venue, among others.
Marking the inaugural session of the evening, the guests delivered welcome speeches praising the cultural heritage of Mymensingh region and creative activities of the academy.
