Remembering Bangabandhu in ‘Srabon Tragedy’
Mohakal Nattya Shamproday will stage Srabon Tragedy at Dhaka Officers' Club, Baily Road today, to commemorate National Mourning Day. The play will be staged in the auditorium of the Officers' Club complex as a tribute to the Father of the Nation. This would be the 15th show of the play at this venue.
The play takes place on the night of 14th August ,1975. In this dark night, malicious souls gather as they weave the conspiracy to commit the most heinous of crimes. The procession of these people march forward, soon to drench the soil of the country with the blood of her father.
The biographical depiction of Bangabandhu in Srabon Tragedy is written by Associate Professor of Jahangirnagar University's Drama and Dramatics Department, Anan Zaman and directed by Assistant Professor of Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University, Ashiq Rahman Leeon.
With almost 40 actors in different roles and personnel working behind the stage, Srabon Tragedy will be Mohakal Nattya Shamproday's 40th production.
