Emma Dean visits the Super Chef kitchen
The 13th episode of Super Chef picks up from where the last one left off, except this week there is a surprise. The participants already know that this week they will be receiving yet another mystery box and this will be followed by the “Tike thakar lorai”. With Shimu already gone, now only five participants remain and all five will have to fight it out for that one top spot. And if they thought they have faced pressure, then they have no idea about what is to come.
This week, the Season 5 winner of Master Chef Australia, Emma Dean will take over the Super Chef kitchen. Although she will not be the one choosing the dish, she will gauge the participants as they go about their regular challenges. Emma Dean will observe the participants as they prepare their dishes and ask them questions regarding those. Remember, on Sunday, Emma Dean will be taking a Super Chef Culinary class where participants will be asked to recreate a dish of her choice. What that dish will be, will eventually be based on what Emma sees today. The Master Chef winner, Emma Dean will be one of the most notable figures to make an appearance in the show. A star in her own right, Emma Dean, the darling of the culinary world is expecting a cultural shock of sorts but so are the participants. Plus, the added element of a celebrity chef will mean the participants will have to be on their toes throughout.
Last week, the judges had a lot to say to Sakib. One of the underdogs and the people's favourite, Sakib indeed has come a long way in his journey. Previously, many wrote him off thinking he did not have the technique to survive as an international quality chef but Sakib proved all his detractors wrong. However, there are still areas for him to work on. He was told that his station was too untidy and he needed to be more organised in his preparation. There was also evident tension boiling between Sakib and the other participants with many saying he was just not a team player. “I feel like a bad boy, hearing the judges' comments,” Sakib had said. Will this week mean redemption for the former government service employee?
On the polar opposite of Sakib is Nadim who was complimented for being one of the more organised participants. Umme Kulsum had a close shave last week and it will be interesting to see whether she comes back stronger or weakened by the fact that she came so close to elimination. Jebunessa, on the other hand, will hope to build up on her strong performances and make it to the safe zone once again. Whatever happens, the scrutiny will be greater on all the participants this time around. Regular judges Shaheda Yesmin, Tazzamul Tarek and Tariq Anam will also know that since they selected this as their top five, they will have to perform as the top five chefs of the country. Anything less at this point will simply not acceptable. As the competition nears the end, do not miss the latest episode of Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef 2015.
