The challenge never seen before
A revolutionary idea, one that had never been seen in television before was about to be unveiled. Chef Fredrick Insisenmay was bringing one of his most challenging dishes to the Super Chef Kitchen and that wasn't even the big surprise. Last episode, for the first time in television history, participants would have to replicate a dish they would see being made in front of them via a close circuit display on large plasma screens set before them. Chef Fred was going to be preparing his beef tenderloin Massaman curry and the participants would be replicating the dish as it would be made in front of them, live. There was no room for even a slight lapse in concentration because if anyone missed anything, then the competition would end for them.
As evidenced, when the round had come to an end, Chef Fed and the rest of the judges went about tasting every presentation. Chef Fred even remarked that he was thoroughly impressed with some of the cooking. “You need to be shown this dish more carefully,” he said, amazed at how our Super Chefs had actually managed to recreate his dish just by watching him prepare live, with no scope for much questions.
However, it didn't all bode well for every participant. Hasina and Jeenia once again found themselves at the end of the barrel. Their dish, the judges had concurred, lacked the balance in flavours and some of the meat was even overcooked, a cardinal sin in the Super Chef kitchen that more often than not goes unforgiving. As they both waited to hear the final verdict - one of them would be out today - the other participants also began to tear up. Runa Laila, champion of the round, tugged at her clothes, pulling them closer to her lips. She had made friends with both the participant and had once remarked that she loved Jeenia like her own sister. Alas though, because it was indeed Jeenia who failed to make the cut. The girl for whom this was the first ever adventure on her own, the memorable journey had come to a close.
“These people with me have become my best friends. I may have lost but this was a bigger experience for me than I had ever imagined it me.” With these words, Jeenia made her exit and the Super Chef kitchen felt just that much emptier. Her youthful exuberance, infectious enthusiasm and the ever-ready smile would be thoroughly missed.
Next week, super star Mehzabien enters the Super Chef kitchen as we count down towards our last remaining super chefs. Tune in to ntv every Saturday and Sunday at 9pm to join the thrill.
