World Photography Day
A two-day photography exhibition held at Mymensingh Muslim Institute concluded on August 19. Mymensingh Photographic Society (MPS) organised the exhibition titled “Noisargik Mymensingh”, marking World Photography Day-2016.
The landscape photographs charmed the visitors the most at the exhibition.
Marking the day, a colourful rally was brought out in the town. Some 50 photographs, taken by young photographers of MPS, were displayed at the exhibition, visited by hundreds of people from different sections, said sources. A discussion was also held marking the concluding ceremony at the same venue.
Mohammad Asad-uz-Zaman, Rahe Imran Hossain, Prof Bhankar Sengupta and Nazmul Huda of MPS spoke on the occasion. Prof Asif Minhaz Setu, a member of MPS presided over the event. MPS secretary Mottalib Darbari delivered the welcome speech.
The speakers said, “Photography is a creative art and vast knowledge is needed to capture good photographs. Mymensingh is known for a thriving photography scene and the young talents here in this profession can bring more feathers for the district through their creativity.”
The speakers also urged the young talents not to use photography for any harmful acts. Marking the day, a publication, “Chitron”, was also launched at the programme. Earlier, MPS also honoured two veteran photographers of Mymensingh region for their lifelong contribution in this field at the function. They are Nitish Roy from Sherpur district and Md. Nowab Ali from Mymensingh town.
