Attack on UNO Wahida a result of politics mixing with criminals: Menon
Politics has gone into the hands of criminals and the attempt to kill Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam in Dinajpur is the outcome of it, Workers Party President and MP Rashed Khan Menon said today.
Addressing a virtual meeting with the leaders of Dinajpur District Committee of Workers Party, Menon said, incidents of Shahed-Sabrina-Papiya are not beyond those incidents of politics mixing with criminal activity.
"Killing of Major (retd) Sinha cannot be justified in the name of self-defense. Likewise, activities of political criminals at the local level cannot be hidden through staging stories of theft," Menon said.
He also said the Prime Minister on Wednesday in parliament has warned MPs not to patronise criminals.
The trend of patronising criminals from the topmost level will have to be stopped, he added.
"Only then will politics and society be sophisticated," Menon surmised.
Mosaddek Hossain Labu, president, Dinajpur District Committee of Workers Party, presided over the meeting.
