Abducted Ctg girl rescued after 11 days
Police rescued a 15-year-old schoolgirl on Sunday night, 11 days after she was abducted on her way to school in Sitakunda upazila by some youths.
The girl was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) one stop crisis centre yesterday morning for her medical check-up as she was allegedly raped by the kidnappers.
Family sources said the victim, a class-IX student, was kidnapped by around five youths, led by one Mobarak Hossain Razu, 28, on January 13.
Mobarak, son of Towhidur Rahman of Nisanbag village in Noakhali's Senbagh upazila, has a poultry farm in Sekh Para of Sitakunda and used to live there. He often harassed the victim on her way to school, the family alleged.
When the victim did not return from school, the family members did not file any case, thinking it as a matter of elopement and considering it a social stigma, said a local.
However, some days later, Mobarak started demanding Tk 2 lakh as ransom from the victim's family members over phone.
He also threatened to kill the girl if they failed to give him the ransom.
Following this, the victim's family filed an abduction case with Sitakunda Police Station, accusing Razu and three to four of his unnamed associates.
Sub-Inspector Kamal Uddin of Sitakunda Police Station talked to Razu in guise of the victim's father and convinced Razu to take her to Kumira area from Chittagong city where they kept the girl.
On Sunday night, Razu brought the girl to collect the demanded money and was caught red-handed, said the police official.
However, any of Razu's associates was yet to be arrested.
“The victim alleged that she was raped during her confinement,” said the SI, adding that she was sent to the CMCH for medical test.
If medical test confirms her statement, they will include her allegation in the case, the police official added.
Razu was yesterday produced before a Chittagong court that sent him to jail.
