BSF men kill Bangladeshi

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader near the Khetar Char frontier in Roumari upazila of Kurigram early yesterday.

The dead is Nurul Amin, 32, son of Moksed Ali Munshi of Khetar Char village.

The incident happened around 4:00am when a group of cattle traders, including Nurul, was going inside the Indian territory to bring cattle in, according to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police sources.

On duty BSF men of Dipchar camp under BSF Battalion-57 in Dhubri district of Assam opened fire on the group after it reached the no-man's land, added the sources.

Nurul was shot but he somehow managed to return home. He died there later.

“After hearing the news, we rushed to his home. Later, we sent a letter to the Dipchar BSF camp requesting it to hold a flag meeting,” said Abdul Aziz, company commander of BGB Battalion-35 in Datbhanga of Jamalpur.

Mohammad Ruhani, inspector (investigation) of Roumari Police Station, said, “A police team has been sent to Nurul's home to have his body received. Later, it will be sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
