Ershad, Raushan in Ctg

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad and party's presidium member and also Leader of the Opposition Raushan Ershad yesterday came to Chittagong by separate flights.

Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, who was recently removed from the party's secretary general post by Ershad, received Ershad at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport yesterday morning. Ruhul Amin Howlader was made the JP's secretary general.    

Raushan reached the airport in a separate flight around 3:30pm, said party leaders, adding that both Ershad and Raushan were staying at Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View hotel.

Ziauddin and JP Vice-Chairman Morshed Murad Ibrahim received Ershad at the airport.

Contacted, Morshed said Ershad and Raushan arrived in Chittagong for attending his family programme and prime minister's programmes in the city.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to go to Chittagong today for inaugurating different projects.

Morshed said a programme was organised at Radisson Blu on the occasion of his son's wedding ceremony yesterday. Both Ershad and Raushan joined the programme.

Asked about Bablu receiving Ershad at the airport, Morshed said they were in the same car while coming to the hotel from the airport. “I saw both of them chatting cordially.”

He added, “In fact, Ershad is a man with a big heart and he talked to Bablu very cordially and frankly.”

However, this correspondent could not contact Bablu for his comments in this regard as the JP leader did not receive phone calls despite several attempts.

Morshed said around 50 lawmakers attended the wedding programme.
