Fog disrupts ferry service for 5 hours

Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed yesterday after five and a half hours of suspension due to dense fog.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said the movement of ferries on the route came to a complete halt at 5:00am due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the riverbed.

Nearly 300 vehicles, including passenger buses, trucks and cars, were stranded on Paturiaghat side of the route.

The sources said out of the total 16 ferries, seven were stranded on the middle of the river. The ferry movement resumed at 10-30 am with disappearance of the fog.
