BNP leader Minu, 3 others sued for treason

A sedition case was filed yesterday against BNP leader Mizanur Rahman Minu, also an adviser to Chairperson Khaleda Zia, and three other party leaders over making a hint that another 1975 could occur.
Mosabbir Islam, law affairs secretary of Rajshahi city Awami League, filed the case with the court of Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam.
The three other accused in the case are BNP Organising Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukhder Dulu, Rajshahi city BNP President Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, and General Secretary Shafiqul Haque Milon.
The court recorded the statement of the plaintiff and ordered the officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station to collect evidence and witnesses and submit the investigation report to it by March 31, plaintiff's lawyer Nurul Islam Sarker Aslam said.
On March 9, Rajshahi city AL sought approval from the government to file a sedition case against Minu over his remarks at a BNP rally.
In the application to the government, the AL claimed that Minu in his speech at the BNP's divisional rally in Rajshahi on March 2 criticised Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, threatened Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with death, and hinted that another 1975 could occur.
AL leaders said they got the permission from the home ministry on Sunday.
