Khaleda sends Eid greetings to Hasina

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday sent Eid greetings to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, wishing her a happy Eid-ul-Fitr.

A BNP delegation led by party's Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Abul Khaiyer Bhuiyan delivered her Eid greetings card at the AL president's Dhanmondi office.

Hasina and Khaleda, the chiefs of the country's two major political parties, greet each other through cards on the occasions of two Eids and Pahela Baishakh, though they have long been avoiding meeting each other or joining any programme where the other might be present.

On October 26, 2013, Hasina called Khaleda over phone for the last time to invite her to the Gono Bhaban to talk about the 2014 general elections. But the initiative failed as the two leaders did not budge an inch from their respective stances on the dialogue.

AL Office Secretary Abdus Subhan Golap received the card on behalf of Hasina.

The other members of the BNP delegation include party assistant organising secretaries Akhan Kuddusur Rahman, Abdul Awal Khan and Swechchhasebak Dal Joint Secretary Aminul Islam.
