Robbers loot two jewellery shops in Barisal

A gang of robbers looted gold and silver ornaments from two jewellery shops at Sayestabad Bazar in Barisal Sadar early yesterday.

Riaz Hossain, owner of one of the shops, said the robbers, numbering around eight, entered the shops by breaking the locks and looted over 100 tolas of gold and silver ornaments.

Selim Reja, officer-in-charge of Kawnia Police Station, said the robbers beat two night guards of the bazar as they tried to resist them.
