Teenage girl raped and mutilated
She left her studies and moved to the capital to get away from her stalker.
But when the 16-year-old went to her family in Ishwarganj upazila for a visit after four months, her stalker Shohag Mia, a college student, had allegedly raped her and mutilated her genitals with a blade early Friday.
“I was forced to send my daughter to Dhaka to avoid something like this but the fate did not spare my family,” the father lamented at the hospital, where the girl is being treated for critical injuries.
He filed a case with Ishwarganj Police Station Friday night accusing Shohag and an unidentified young man, Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of the police station, said.
Police could not arrest any of the suspects.
The landless peasant father also said his chances of getting justice were slight as the accused were influential people.
After passing her SSC exams this year, the girl went to Dhaka and started working at a garment factory to escape the Shohag's harassment.
She went home on Thursday.
In the wee hours of Friday, as she left her home to go to the toilet, Shohag and his accomplice forcibly took the girl to a secluded place nearby, raped her and cut her genitals, the father alleged.
Hearing her screams, family members and neighbours took her to a hospital.
“Before she moved to Dhaka, Shohag used to ask her to marry him and often made indecent proposals on her way to school. Rejected, he told her that he would teach her a good lesson,” the grieving father said.
“I also informed the stalker's parents but they did nothing.”
Her condition is improving and she could be released from the hospital in a day or two, the OC said, quoting doctors.
Shohag could not be reached on his phone for comments.
