Confident Tigers head to Colombo
The Bangladesh cricket team started off from their resort at Dambulla to travel back to Colombo, their next destination on the tour of Sri Lanka at around, at around 10:45am (11:15am Bangladesh time) today.
The Tigers were in cheerful mood as they had their breakfast and headed for the team bus. Shakib Al Hasan was doting on his daughter Alaina, who became more of a star attraction than her father as she toddled around the Aliya Resort and Spa lobby.
Hattrick hero in the yesterday's abandoned second ODI, Taskin Ahmed, attracted a lot of attention too as he talked to the press. Ever since they won the second Test at the P Sara Oval on March 19, the Bangladesh camp has looked a happy one, but they were even more cheerful today, perhaps because they now have one hand on the ODI trophy having won the first ODI by 90 runs.
Such is the confidence among the team that many of them seemed to genuinely regret the washout yesterday, even though Sri Lanka scored 311 before rain intervened. The general consensus among the players seemed to be that had the match gone on, it would have been a good game because the pitch was so flat.
The team are expected to reach Colombo this afternoon and they will take the rest of the day off before heading to practice tomorrow morning at the Sinhalese Sports Club, the venue for the third and final ODI on April 1.
