'Winning combination not sacred'
Having won the first ODI in convincing fashion on Saturday and with the prospect of a first away series win against a higher-ranked, near full-strength side in the second ODI tomorrow, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was not ruling out changes to the combination that delivered the 90-run win.
"We haven't decided, we will do so after looking at the wicket tomorrow," said Mashrafe when asked whether the team will be unchanged at the pre-match press conference at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium this afternoon.
The pitch is likely to change because on a slowish surface Bangladesh ran up a total of 324 in the first ODI, and 24 hours before the match, the pitch has a greenish tinge. Sri Lanka have also added two pacers to the squad -- Nuwan Pradeep and the veteran of 181 games Nuwan Kulasekara -- so signs point to a change to a more seam-friendly surface.
"Yes, it seems that there is a little more grass around the centre of the wicket. But as I said it is difficult to know how much effect that will have," Mashrafe said when asked about the wicket. "But as they have added two more pacers, it is very possible that they will leave the grass on. We will also have to decide based on the wicket tomorrow.
"We have broken our winning combination against India and South Africa in 2015. The wicket tomorrow may be different, so we have to keep that in mind."
