THE content of the book is the theme of Ph.D research of Dr. Sharif Asrafuzzaman, who has been working in Meghna Petroleum for many years. He removes many common misconceptions about oil in this book. He claims that Tuinja community of Burma was the first to use oil before European oil discovery in Pennsylvania of America in 1859. He proves that Tuinja community also shipped oil to the American and European markets. He also shows that the fossil sample of oil of European Draike is similar to the oil used by Tuinja's. Researcher points out that Tuinja's oil was same as the oil found in South Iran in 500 AD.
The book also discusses the discovery of fossil-fuel and its use from ancient to modern time, discovery of oil in the subcontinent: a Tuinja anecdote, arrival and activities of different oil company in the Subcontinent, mining of oil-gas in Bangladesh, activities of Petrobangla and affiliated companies, activities of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and affiliated companies, problem and prospects of oil discovery and reserve in Bangladesh, Bangladesh's oil fields: earnings and prospective, coal discovery, reserve and use in Bangladesh.
Apart from Bangladesh, this book also discusses the global history of mining, marketing and geographical features of oil. The war and clashes for oil among many nations are sketched in the book. To sum up, this is a great work on oil realm and position of Bangladesh in it.
