Honoring the stars of business

Top businessmen and companies are being recognised for their success and contribution to the economy at the 17th edition of the Bangladesh Business Awards.

Two companies and two individuals will be felicitated at the ceremony that is being held at the Radisson Blu hotel, Dhaka.

This year's awards will be handed out in four categories: The Best Financial Institution, Enterprise of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business, and Business Person of the Year.

Pioneer Insurance Company Ltd was recognised as the best financial institution of the year.

M Anis Ud Dowla, chairman of ACI Limited, was awarded Business Person of the Year 2017 for his contribution to businesses and entrepreneurship.

Renata Ltd was recognized as the enterprise of the year and Afsana Asif Soma, managing partner of Asix, was honoured as the outstanding woman in business.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the trophies to the winners.

While speaking at the programme, the finance minister said the award is not only honoring the businessmen, it is also recognising the contribution of the business community as a whole.    

DHL Express, the world's leading logistics company, and The Daily Star, the leading English newspaper of Bangladesh, initiated the awards in 2000.
