Flight delayed for nearly 2 hours in Saidpur Airport due to fog

Operation of three flights of US Bangla, Air Astra and Novo Air in Saidpur Airport was delayed for around two hours due to dense fog this morning.

Lokman Hakim, in-charge of the airport's met office, informed the authorities about the dense fog and minimum temperature of 12.8 degrees Celsius in the airport area.

He also informed that the visibility was only 500 metres in the morning, making it impossible to operate flight as the normal visibility was 2,000 metres.

Due to the weather situation, US Bangla's first flight could not land in the airport on time as it was scheduled to arrive at 10:30am. However, it finally managed to land at 12:30pm.

Another flight of Air Astra next to the US Bangla's first flight also failed to land due to the same situation as its scheduled landing time was 11:40am, and it finally landed at the airport at 1:22pm.

Additionally, the third flight of Novo Air was delayed and landed at 12:47pm.

Around 200 passengers of the three flights suffered due to the flight disruption.

One of the passengers, Salma Begum, who came from Thakurgaon, said that she reported at the airport on time but due to the delay, she was affected since she had urgent piece of business in Dhaka.

AZM Bahauddin Zakaria, manager of Saidpur Airport, said no flight was cancelled or suspended.

However, regular operation resumed after 12:30pm as soon as the weather became normal, he added.
