Bangladesh-Japan economic relations summit kicks off
A day-long summit on "Bangladesh-Japan economic relations for the next 50 years: for the industry upgradation of Bangladesh" began in Dhaka today.
The Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida), and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) jointly organised the summit at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka this afternoon.
Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura is scheduled to be present as chief guest while Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun as special guests, and ICT Division Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak as the guest of honour.
Top business leaders and higher officials from the organisers also attended the summit.
In the summit, the participants will discuss three key topics on "Potential of manufacturing sector in Bangladesh", "ICT and Startup", and "Energy", according to the organisers.
Jetro Country Representative Yuji Ando, Bida Executive Chairman Lokman Hussain Miah and FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin were also present.
