Dhaka, Chattogram stocks fall

All indices of the Dhaka and Chattogram bourses fell today.

The DSEX, benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 24 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 6,274.

The DS30, the blue-chip index, decreased 0.2 per cent to 2,181 while the DSES, the shariah-compliant index, went up 0.36 per cent to 1,364.

However, turnover, a key indicator of the market, rose 8 per cent to Tk 723 crore.

Of the securities, 45 advanced, 117 declined and 175 did not show any price movement.

Aziz Pipes Ltd made the highest gain with an increase of 10 per cent.

Meghna Condensed Milk Industries, Meghna Pet Industries, Khulna Printing & Packaging, and Imam Button Industries were among the top gainers.

Sonali Life Insurance Company was the highest loser, shedding 9.9 per cent.

Union Insurance Company, Meghna Life Insurance, Global Insurance Company, and Prime Islami Life Insurance were also in the list of the significant losers.

Navana Pharmaceuticals was the most-traded stock with its issues worth Tk 44 crore transacting.

Meghna Life Insurance, Advent Pharma, Rupali Life Insurance Company, and Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa also saw significant turnover.

Caspi, the all-share price index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, plummeted 72 points, or 0.38 per cent, to close at 18,548.

Of the issues, 29 rose, 89 retreated and 95 did not see any price swing.

However, turnover of the port city bourse jumped over 72 per cent to Tk 15.73 crore.
