Stocks break gaining streak
All indices of the Dhaka and Chattogram bourses fell today, snapping last two days' gains.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 12 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 6,283 at the end of the day.
The DS30, the blue-chip index, plummeted 0.27 per cent to 2,235 while the DSES, the shariah-compliant index, dropped 0.22 per cent to 1,371.
However, turnover, a key indicator of the market, dropped about 18 per cent to Tk 608 crore.
Of the securities, 33 advanced, 139 declined and 154 did not show any price movement.
Sunlife Insurance Company topped the gainers' list with an increase of 7.6 per cent.
Sonali Paper & Board Mills, Silva Pharmaceuticals, Orion Infusion, and Paper Processing & Packaging were also in the top list.
Aamra networks was the highest loser by shedding more than 3.5 per cent.
Eastern Housing, Shinepukur Ceramics, Reliance Insurance, and Navana Pharmaceuticals were also in the list of top losers.
Genex Infosys traded most with its shares worth Tk 55 crore transacted.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Shinepukur Ceramics, Sonali Paper & Board Mills and Gemini Sea Food also saw significant turnover.
The Caspi, the all-share price index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, lost 36 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 18,535.
Of the issues, 19 rose, 63 retreated and 56 did not see any price swing in the Chattogram bourse.
Turnover of the port city bourse dropped 29 per cent to Tk 14.2 crore from the previous day's Tk 20 crore.
