Stocks end day in black
All indices of the Dhaka and Chattogram bourses traded a bit higher today.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 9 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 6,310.
The DS30, the blue-chip index, increased 0.05 per cent to 2,186 while the DSES, the shariah-compliant index, went up 0.2 per cent to 1,370.
Turnover, a key indicator of the market, rose 6 per cent to Tk 630 crore.
Of the securities, 124 advanced, 49 declined and 181 did not show any price movement.
Olympic Accessories made the highest gain with an increase of 10 per cent.
Prime Islami Life Insurance, Simtex Industries, Imam Button Industries and Northern Jute Manufacturing Co Ltd were among the top gainers.
Apex Tannery was the highest loser, shedding 3.3 per cent.
Central Pharmaceuticals, Rupali Life Insurance Company, Advent Pharma, and Northern Islami Insurance were also in the list of the significant losers.
Gemini Sea Food was the most-traded stock with its issues worth Tk 18 crore transacting.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Meghna Life Insurance Co, Eastern Housing, and Yeakin Polymer also saw significant turnover.
Caspi, the all-share price index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, added 10 points, or 0.05 per cent, to close at 18,628.
Of the issues, 74 rose, 38 retreated and 86 did not see any price swing.
Turnover of the port city bourse surged 26 times higher to Tk 530 crore from the previous day.
