Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur has assured depositors that they will recover their money from weak banks. But it will take some time.  

"I assure that you will get your money or bonds in phases," said Mansur at a national workshop on microfinance in Bangladesh today. 

The Microfinance Regulatory Authority (MRA) organised the event in the capital.  

The governor made these remarks in response to concerns raised by top officials of microfinance institutions, who urged the central bank to ensure their funds are recovered from struggling banks.  

Mansur said he had repeatedly warned against depositing funds in certain banks over the past decade. 

"I have personally been advising people for the past 10 years not to park deposits in the S Alam-owned banks, but you did not listen to me. You parked your money in those banks, and now you are facing trouble," he added.
