Stocks rose on the first day of the new year today, posting gains for the fourth consecutive day of trading. 

The DSEX, the premier index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, gained 17.15 points or 0.32 percent to 5,233.60 as of 11:32 am. 

Around 237 issues advanced, 74 declined, and 69 remained unchanged. 

Total turnover stood at Tk 135.87 crore. 

Khulna Printing & Packaging, Yeakin Polymer, Western Marine Shipyard led the gains, rising over 9 percent, while shares of Orion Infusion dropped 8 percent.

CSE All Share Price Index was up 0.19 percent, gainning 28.91 points to 14,502.26.
