Govt fixes price of eggs at Tk 12 per piece
The government today fixed the price of eggs at Tk 12 per piece at the retail level amid price hike of the essential item.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today announced the new fixed price of eggs at a press conference held at the commerce ministry today.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The government has also decided to allow import of eggs if the price in the local market does not come down, the minister said.
The commerce ministry officials will monitor the market for one or two days and if egg prices come down to Tk 12 per piece, the government may reconsider the decision to allow imports, Munshi said.
Price of bottled soybean oil was reduced to Tk 169 per litre from Tk 174.
The price of potato was also fixed at Tk 35-Tk 36 per kg and price of onion at Tk 64-Tk 65 per kg.
