Most shops seen closed in Dhaka
Most of the shops and malls situated near the main roads in Dhaka are closed now amid the protest of students and mass people.
New Market, Dhaka's most popular shopping place, remained closed.
Science laboratory area has also become paralysed as protesters took to the streets and took position at science laboratory intersections.
Vehicular movement stopped while stores were seen shut from Science Lab intersection to the New Market and New Elephant Road, reports our correspondent from the spots.
Our reporters also found that the door of several banks closed in Motijheel. Some banks' branches at Motijheel are operating their activities through pocket gates.
While other business enterprises did not open their gates in the commercial hub of the country.
In Banani, many private offices remained closed and some of the offices informed their employees that their office will remain closed until further notice.
While visiting Dhanmondi, shopping malls like Sunrise Plaza, Rapa Plaza and Shaptak Square were found closed today.
However, Meena Bazar's Dhanmondi outlet was open and some customers were seen buying their essentials.
Mehadi Hasan, cash in-charge of the Meena Bazar branch, told The Daily Star that customers' turnout is less than 50 percent of the usual times.
Bank branches on Sat Masjid Road, Dhanmondi were also seen closed.
However, a notice was seen hanging on the shutter at Nizam Sanker Plaza: "Bank is open".
