The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today honoured 42 top taxpayers of Chattogram division.

Mahbubul Alam, president of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry, distributed crests among the awardees at a ceremony organised by the port city's income tax department at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the World Trade Centre.

The tax payers would be able to submit their income tax returns in a festive mood with the help of the tax officials in the tax week, Alam said at the event as the chief guest.

He also urged the NBR to extend the deadline for paying taxes at the individual level from November 30 to December 31.

At the programme, the department awarded the 42 taxpayers in four categories from six areas, including tax zones of Chattogram City Corporation, zones outside the corporation, three hill districts and Cox's Bazar.
