The Daily Star journalist Mahmudul Hasan won BASIS SoftExpo 2023 Best Reporting Awards.

The Bangladesh Association of Software Information Services (BASIS) has presented the award based on news reports on the ICT sector in Bangladesh.

A total of nine reporters were given this award in three categories—print, online and electronic media.

Hasan, a staff reporter of The Daily Star, won the first prize in the print media category.

Md Kaushar Uddin, senior staff reporter of Dainik Sangbad, won the second prize and Rahitul Islam, a reporter of Prothom Alo, stood third.

Bangla Tribune Senior Staff Reporter Hitler A Halim won the first prize in the online media category, Imdadul Haque, executive editor of DigiBanglatech.News, won the second prize and Prothom Alo reporter Badal Khan won the third prize.

In electronic media category, Morsalin Junaid, staff reporter of Channel 24, won the first prize, Shubo Khan, staff reporter of Somoy TV, got the second prize and HM Shuja, producer of Ekhon TV, got the third prize.

"Journalists play a leading role in the development of the country's ICT sector. BASIS wants to give some inspiration to the great professional responsibility of journalists despite our limitations," said Russell T Ahmed, president of BASIS, in a view exchange meeting with journalists at a hotel in the capital on Saturday.

"As a part of this, for the first time, BASIS SoftExpo 2023 Best Reporting Awards has been initiated. Also, we will initiate an award for best reports nationally, in the ICT sector from next October."
