Stocks fall in early trade  

Stocks dropped in morning trade today, extending the losing run for the second consecutive day.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, lost 8.65 points, or 0.18 percent, to 4,776.45 as of 11:50 am.

The Shariah-compliant DSES index declined 0.07 percent to 1,046.12, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, was down 0.61 percent to 1,766.10.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 111.57 crore during the session.

Of the issues traded, 115 advanced, 171 declined, and 93 remained unchanged.

Atlas Bangladesh posted the highest gain, rising 9 percent, while City Bank registered the biggest loss, dropping 16 percent.
