Workers staying at Gazipur factory get partial salaries, bonuses

Partial salaries and bonuses of the workers of GM and JC Composite Limited in Gazipur have been paid following the intervention of the district administration.

The payments were made with money acquired from selling the factory owner's cattle and savings, reports our local correspondent quoting Gazipur Deputy Collector Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury.

BKMEA also lent the owner Tk 10 lakh to pay the workers' dues, he added.

Each of the 544 workers of the factory was paid Tk4,000 as part of their salaries and festival bonuses last night, Wasiuzzaman also said.

The workers, who were living in the factory in demand of their dues left for their homes upon receiving the money last night, the official added.

The workers of GM and JC Composite Limited in Gazipur were staying in the factory since April 30, 2022, as they did not get the salary of April and Eid-ul-Fitr bonus.
