Agrani Bank holds seminar on ‘Awareness about Risk Management in Banks’

A seminar titled 'Awareness about Risk Management in Banks' was held at the Agrani Bank Training Institute in Dhaka on February 8.
Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, Chairman of Agrani Bank PLC, attended the event as the chief guest. The seminar was presided over by Anwarul Islam, CEO of Agrani Bank PLC, while Mujaffor Ahmed, Director and Board Member of Agrani Bank PLC, delivered the keynote presentation. The event was attended by all members of the Agrani Bank Board, Deputy Managing Directors (DMDs), and General Managers (GMs).
Emphasising the critical role of risk management in daily banking operations, the keynote speaker discussed the existing risk management practices across the banking sector, with a specific focus on Agrani Bank's approach. The presentation covered key topics, including economic capital and its measurement, balance sheet management, capital adequacy as per Bangladesh Bank guidelines, external credit assessment, capital buffers, and the role of various management tiers in risk management. Real-world examples were used to illustrate these concepts extensively.
An engaging Q&A session followed, where the chairman and the keynote speaker provided insightful feedback on the discussions. Several critical areas were identified as essential for addressing the current challenges in the banking sector.
As a key outcome, recommendations were made for Agrani Bank to strengthen its risk management strategies, ensuring a sustainable banking framework and harnessing the potential of modern banking practices.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks from the Hon'ble Chairman and CEO of Agrani Bank PLC, who commended the management team for organizing the event at a time when the banking sector is navigating significant challenges.
