DHL Express Bangladesh inks GoGreen Plus service deal with Pakiza Knit Composite
DHL Express Bangladesh, the global leader in international express services, has signed an agreement with Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd. to adopt the GoGreen Plus service, a sustainability initiative aimed at offsetting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from international shipments.
Under the agreement, Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd. seeks to reduce 30% of its GHG emissions from cross-border shipments. The GoGreen Plus service is part of DHL's commitment to decarbonising its logistics network, offering businesses a pathway to reduce their environmental impact through co-investment in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Md. Miarul Haque, Managing Director of DHL Express Bangladesh, and Rakibul Islam Khan, Managing Director of Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd., signed the agreement, marking a shared commitment to sustainable operations.
Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd, a recipient of the Green Factory Award from the Bangladesh Government, is recognised for its sustainable practices, including reusing heat loss, utilising solar power, and managing wastewater through an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The company has also launched an innovative project to repurpose exhaust air from generators for boiling water, reducing energy consumption and emissions.
GoGreen Plus uses a book-and-claim mechanism to enable customers to invest in SAF, which can reduce lifecycle GHG emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional aviation fuel. This reduction can also be credited to Scope 3 emission reporting, addressing indirect emissions from a company's value chain.
Md. Miarul Haque of DHL Express Bangladesh said, "Partnering with forward-thinking companies like Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd. strengthens our mission to transform logistics into a more sustainable industry. By joining the GoGreen Plus service, Pakiza sets an inspiring example of how businesses can integrate practical measures into their operations while benefiting from innovative logistics solutions."
Pakiza Knit Composite's Managing Director, Rakibul Islam Khan, commented, "Leadership is not just about making profits but about making a positive impact on the world we live in. With the signing of the Go Green Plus agreement with DHL, we embark on a journey towards a sustainable future. We hope our commitment to environmental stewardship will inspire others to join us in creating a better world for generations to come."
Globally, DHL Group has committed to achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. It has secured up to 800 million liters of SAF through partnerships with bp, Neste, and World Energy, while investing in electrifying its ground operations, with a target to convert 66% of its last-mile fleet by 2030.
