Shahjalal Islami Bank award scholarship to 250 poor meritorious students

Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has provided scholarships to 250 poor and meritorious students who have passed HSC and equivalent examinations from different parts of the country.

They are currently studying in the first year of their degree in various public universities, government medical colleges and engineering universities in the country.

There are 125 male and 125 female students among the scholarship recipients, said a press release.

A total of Tk 3,17,50,000 will be given to the scholarship recipients to complete their courses in four years. The scholarship cheques were officially distributed at a ceremony organised at the bank's corporate head office on April 30.

Fifty scholarship recipients received the scholarship cheque at the ceremony.

The scholarship money of the remaining 200 scholarship recipients will be paid into their respective bank accounts within a stipulated time.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank A K Azad handed over the scholarship cheques among the students as chief guest in the programme.

Director of the bank & Chairman of the Bank Foundation Dr Anwar Hossain Khan was present as special guest in the programme. Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Mosleh Uddin Ahmed presided over the event.

In his speech, AK Azad said since 2006, Shahjalal Islami Bank has been providing scholarships to poor and talented students from different parts of the country. He urged people from all walks of life to come forward to ensure fair and quality education for everyone in the society.

Anwer Hossain Khan, expressed his hope that all these achievements of the insolvent families would play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country along with improving the students by getting higher education.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that this scholarship provided by Shahjalal Islami Bank is not only financial support to the talented students but also motivation, courage and encouragement. The recognition given by the bank to the meritorious students is in recognition of the hard work that the students from the disadvantaged groups of the society have achieved in the past years.
