A section of owners of shops and business establishments in Dhaka city today kept their shutter down since this morning demanding the reduction of Value Added Tax (VAT).

The owners under the banner of Businessmen Unity Forum, a platform of the shop owners, also brought out a procession in the city.

The strike is being observed across the whole city and will continue till the evening, Hazi Abdus Salam, president of the platform, told The Daily Star.
