Transactions via plastic cards are on the rise, thanks to relaxed rules and a tech-savvy young population. Bangladesh saw 12.73 percent growth in overall card transactions in the third quarter (July-September) last year, compared to the previous quarter. During July-September, transactions via debit cards rose about 15 percent to Tk 22,326 crore, while transactions through credit cards fell about 12 percent to Tk 1,535 crore. For the first time, Bangladesh Bank has recently released comprehensive data on e-commerce and e-banking.
