How to keep your iPhone memory uncluttered
Decreasing memory is a major problem for most iPhone users. Generally they are stuck with whatever internal storage their device comes with. Thus, it is a good idea to check your iPhone from time to time and free up space. Here are a few tips you can follow to keep your device uncluttered.
1. Clean your cache
Browsing the internet means a significant space is taken over by cookies, web history and other such unnecessary data. Regularly browsing the internet means these data keep piling up and hence more space becomes used up for no reason. So, go to the settings of your browser and select 'Clear Browsing Data' to free up some much needed space.
2. Don't save the same photos twice
For most iPhone users, photos are the biggest memory killers. This is especially true if you happen to be an active Instagrammer. Typically, when you upload a photo to Instagram, two versions of the same image are stored in the phone- the original image, and the filtered and edited one that went up on Instagram. Thus, since the same photo is being saved twice, more memory is being used up for no good reason. This is also the case with HDR photography. Go to the camera option from the Settings menu and uncheck the box marked 'Keep Normal Photo.'
3. Delete text messages regularly
iPhones by default will save all your text messages until the end of time. Time is unlimited but internal memory is much less so. Hence, it would be wise to regularly delete old and unimportant text messages. To do that, open Settings, select Messages and scroll down till you come across Message History and select Keep Messages. From there, select 30 days instead of Forever or 1 year.
4. Delete apps and data
While the other tips are good for freeing up a small amount of space, this tip will help clear up a sizeable amount of space. We all have videos, photos, music and even apps that we do not need anymore. You can go to the Settings menu and open Manage Data. From this list, you can check which apps are taking up the most space and you can then delete accordingly.
