Man hacked to death in Chattogram

A man was hacked to death over family feud allegedly by his step brothers at his ancestral home in Haldia village under Raozan upazila of Chattogram this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Shah Alam Bakul, 40. He was an engineer by profession. Bakul and two step brothers locked into an altercation over ownership of family properties at their village home around 2:30pm.
At one stage, his step brothers hacked Bakul with machetes and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured, said Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Raozan Police Station.
Locals rushed him to Raozan Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared him dead, the OC said.
"On information, police went to the hospital and sent the body to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy," he said.
Police are conducting drives to arrest the culprits while filing of a case in this connection was underway, he added.
