Election Fever All Around
With the national election set for December 30, polls fever is getting a grip on the country. The road to this point, however, had its ups and downs. Earlier, there were uncertainty, political tension, and concern that this election could be a one-sided affair. Parties, especially smaller ones, started maneuvering to get into alliances led by two major political parties early on. Then came the Election Commission's polls schedule announcement on December 8 which put everything into high gear as political parties had deadlines to adhere. Many leaders started tussling over party tickets, lobbying for it, and exhibiting supporters on streets. After a high number of nominations filed, a record number of those rejected by the returning officers, appeals and hearings of appeals, the country this evening might know who is running and who is facing whom in the battle of ballots. The election fever is only going to get higher as the campaign officially begins tomorrow.
